Hi there — I’m glad you’re here!
Welcome, and thanks for visiting my blog!
Myself Vidyasagar Machani, and I work in the world of observability, a space that’s evolved significantly over the years. I started this blog to share some of that journey, from managing legacy systems to building modern, cloud-native solutions.
Where I Come From?
My background includes hands-on experience with both legacy monitoring tools (HP Overview like OVO, OVPI) and modern observability stacks. I’ve worked extensively with:
- HP and Micro Focus ITOM products like:
- Operations Bridge Manager (OBM/OMi)
- SiteScope
- Operations Bridge Reporter (OBR)
- Application Performance Management (APM)
These platforms were critical in large enterprise environments and taught me how to design robust, scalable monitoring architectures, long before Open Source Products like Prometheus and Grafana became industry standards.
What I Do Now?
In recent years, I’ve transitioned to working with more open and cloud-native ecosystems, including:
- Prometheus
- Grafana Labs Products: Grafana, Loki, Alloy etc
- Kubernetes
- CI/CD automation with GitLab
I maintain and deploy Helm charts, write Prometheus rules, integrate event pipelines, and focus heavily on creating scalable, automated observability platforms.
Why This Blog?
This blog is my place to:
- Share real-world implementations and workarounds
- Publish how-tos for observability tools and automation patterns
- Reflect on lessons learned, both from legacy migrations and modern-day architectures
- Provide integration guides, especially where tools don’t naturally play well together
Whether you’re stuck maintaining a legacy SiteScope environment or building a cloud-native observability stack, I hope you’ll find something helpful here.
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned — I’ll be posting walkthroughs, technical deep-dives, and practical guides regularly. Feel free to reach out with questions or feedback!
